Privacy
This notice describes how whowaserased.com actually behaves today. If any of it stops being true, this page changes with it.
What the site does not do
- No user accounts, sign-in or profiles.
- No contact, tip or newsletter form — nothing on the site posts data to us.
- No analytics, advertising, retargeting or social tracking scripts.
- No cookies or local storage set by this site's own code.
- We do not sell, rent or share personal data.
Email you send us
The only way to send us anything is email, to tips@whowaserased.com. If you write, we receive whatever your message contains — your email address, your name if you include it, and the details of your report — in an ordinary email inbox, held by our email provider. We use it to verify and file removals, to reply to you, and for nothing else. We do not publish who sent a tip. Ask us to delete your correspondence and we will.
Hosting and third parties
The site is served as static pages by our hosting provider, which — like any web host — processes the technical request data needed to deliver a page, such as IP address and user agent, in its server logs. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser makes a request to Google when a page loads. Links to the Wayback Machine, source publications and sister projects go to sites with their own privacy practices.
The published dataset
Everything in the ledger and in /api/v1/entries.json is about government resources — URLs, agencies, statuses, archive links and public sources. It contains no personal data about visitors or tipsters, and it is free to reuse under CC0-1.0.
